I have chosen to name red cabin 1 and tan cabin 2 after my grandparents, Bob and Ella Gangnon and Popeye (Harold) and Nita Smith because they left a lasting impact on my life that I will always remember. Both couples, married for over sixty years, created a beautiful foundation for our family that will continue to grow in love for many generations to come.

Bob and Ella’s cozy cabin:

I have decided to name the red cabin Bob and Ella’s Cozy Cabin because it looks exactly like Grandpa Bob and Grandma Ella’s place in Iron River, WI. Bob bought the first 50 feet of lake frontage for $300 and the second 50 feet of lake frontage for $600. They began building the cabin in 1957. “Big Bang Bob” and Ella taught me a lot about life, but one of the most important lessons was to go after your dreams, no matter how big, they are always worth chasing.

Popeye and Grammy’s lookout point:

I have decided to name the cabin on the water Popeye and Grammy’s Lookout Point because it reminds me of their house overlooking Lake Michigan. It was there that I learned how to use the big binoculars and watch the ferry come in off the lake. They used to travel the country finding and photographing lighthouses everywhere. They taught me to love and appreciate the simple things in life, music, family, friends, and nature.
